The project being presented to Parks & Recreation is for a new Class 1 asphalt trail from Missouri Flat Road to El Dorado Road, including a pedestrian overcrossing at Missouri Flat Road. Unfortunately, Option B of this project, will remove 1.42 miles of historic tracks starting from Missouri Flat toward El Dorado Road.
Click here to see a presentation that relates the historical significance of the railroad in El Dorado County. This rail line was constructed between 1853 and 1888. The Placerville Branch carried lumber, fruit, butter and other produce, along with passengers bound for Sacramento, until 1986. Please attend and support the retention of this historic resource.
